PROMISE Technology Introduces New Storage for 4K Video Production

by on August 18, 2014

As more and more companies are developing 4K video recorders, 4K storage devices are becoming increasingly essential. G-Technologies have already released their G-RAID and G-SPEED Studio 4K storage units. In addition, PROMISE Technology also showcased a triumvirate of new storage solutions for 4K video content production at NAB 2014. They are the Pegasus2 M4, VTrak G1100 NAS Gateway and SANLink2 10G.

The Pagasus2 M4 is RAID storage unit based on Thunderbolt 2 hardware. RAID stands for redundant array of inexpensive disks, which is otherwise a multiple disk storage unit. It boasts a storage speed of up to 20Gbps. Consequently, it is ideal for bandwidth hogging 4K. PROMISE Technology’s marketing director said of the Pagasus2 M4.

For professionals and enthusiasts alike, Thunderbolt 2 creates many exciting possibilities for media creation and 4K workflows. Flexibility and simplicity are core benefits of Thunderbolt 2, and the portability and performance of the Pegasus2 M4 makes it an ideal storage solution for content creators who need better ways to work.”

The VTrack G1100 NAS Gateway is an all-in-one metadata appliance and RAID storage subsystem. That provides a 10-Gb Ethernet access to the VTrak A3800 so that multiple users can simultaneously edit video for broadcasting and post production. The VTrack G1100 NAS Gateway is ideal for 4K editing, ingest, processing and streaming from multi-users simultaneously.

PROMISE Technology’s other 4K storage device is the SANLink2 8G FC. It is a 10GBaseT bridge adapter that connects the Mac Pro to 10Gb Ethernet networks. The SANLink2 8G FC alleviates storage bottlenecks with its Fibre Channel and 10Gb connectivity for smoother 4K post-production and broadcasting operations.

The CEO of PROMISE Technology stated: “Working with high-resolution video means fast, high capacity storage is essential. Our line of solutions for the media and entertainment industry offers extreme versatility in any setting – be it a video editor working remotely with a laptop or a large enterprise requiring shared storage for multiple users to edit at the same time.

PROMISE Technology’s new storage devices are effectively out now. They are available through PROMISE’s global network of distributors. Below are some further specifications for the Pagasus 2 M4, VTrack G1100 NAS Gateway and SANLink2 10G.
