LG Reveal World’s First Curved Ultra HD 4K OLED TVs
It was at CES 2014 earlier this year that LG first showcased the 65EC9700 and larger 77EC980V TVs. They are 65 and 77-inch 4K curved OLED TVs. Sure, they were not the only curved TVs shown at CES 2014; but they are the first curved 4K OLED TV models.
LG’s president stated, “LG’s Flexible OLED TV is a product that has to be seen to be believed because it defies description.” Their organic light-emitting diode panels are a first for 4K TV. This gives them richer black panels and wider viewing angles than alternative LED LCD panels. In addition, their curved display mimics the curvature of cinema screens.
Although the TVs are not out until September and October, LG showed off the larger 77-inch 4K OLED TV model in London during June 2014. LG selected live World Cup football and other 4K footage to showcase the 77-inch model. The footage shown had terrific clarity and great viewing angles.
Both TVs have LG’s True 4K Engine Pro for further high-resolution viewing options. Consequently, they can upscale SD, HD or Full HD content into near-4K picture quality. In addition, the Ultra HD OLED TVs also boast ULTRA CINEMA 3D visuals for more convincing 3D effects.
LG have equipped the 4K TVs with built-in-decoders. As such, you will be able to play 4K content from other external devices connected via their HDMI or USB (Universal Serial Bus) ports.
The LG 65EC9700 will support LG’s Smart TV platform. That now includes the new WebOS operating system that gives it a faster load in time and selection. The new platform offers significantly enhanced multi-tasking so that you can switch between applications more effectively.
The new WebOS platform will combine with the LG 65EC9700 Magic Remote Control. The Magic remote offers point and click navigation that speeds up browsing. The newer Magic Remotes also have enhanced vocal tech so that you can speak into the microphone to find to programming and channels.
LG have now announced that the LG 65EC9700 will retail at about $8,999, which is around £5,330 in UK. The 77EC980V model is expected to retail at £19,999. Both will be out by October. Below is a list of specifications for the LG 65EC9700 4K TV.
