The GoPro Hero series of mountable HD and Ultra HD cameras have made a very big technological impact on the world of extreme sports and outdoor racing.

This is because the makers of the Hero, at GoPro, have created a truly outstanding little camera that weighs less than 100 grams, can resist all sorts of wear and tear and films some truly excellent high quality video in both Full HD and Ultra HD 4K resolutions (the Hero 3 and the upcoming Hero 4).

The latest cameras in the GoPro line, the currently sold GoPro Hero 3 series and the upgraded Hero 3+ are probably the best in their class of video cameras.  These little dudes can take a serious beating from sand, dirt, jarring movements and water depths of as many as 120 feet without losing any of their ability to shoot some truly awesome Full HD video at 60 frames per second 720p video at 120 fps and even 4K shots at a somewhat small but still decent 15 fps.

Extreme outdoor sports enthusiasts, snowboarders, skiers, rock climbers and mountain bikers are only some of the people that use the Hero 3 series for capturing some truly awe inspiring 4K Ultra HD sequences easily and hassle free. This is because the little cameras come with attachments that make them easy to mount on surf boards, helmets, bikes, helmets or just about any sort of moving object under adverse conditions.

Take a look at some of the awesome Ultra HD video captured with a Hero 3+ in the video above and remember that this is going to get a lot better once the highly anticipated Hero 4 comes out on sale in early 2015.

The newest addition to GoPro’s mountable camera family is expected to be more awesome than ever with a doubling of the frame rates for shooting all three video resolutions it’s capable of (4K UHD, Full HD and 720p)
