TCL Announce Five new 4K TVs

by on August 20, 2014

At the moment 4K TVs are still in the minority. However, more and more companies are developing new 4K TVs. Now TCL have announced they will be bringing out five 4K TVs for 2014 and ’15. They are the 40UE5700, 49UE5700, 55UH9500, 65UH9500 and the 85UH9500.

TCL’s Chris Larson said of the new TVs: “TCL is committed to bringing US consumers the latest technology at a great value and this lineup reflects our continued efforts to bring down the cost of 4K resolution and make it affordable for all consumers. A year ago, we introduced the first 4K TV for under $1,000 MSRP, and now you see other popular brands following in our footsteps. We’re moving the bar again and challenging them to keep up with us in making premium 4K a mainstream technology that everyone can enjoy.

Larson continued: “Because of our scale of worldwide business, we are able to leverage technologies and production methods that our competitors simply cannot match. This allows us to invest in unmatched 2K to 4K upconversion as well as advanced backlight technologies that are just not practical at a smaller volume enabling us to deliver a premium experience without the premium price.

The UE5700 is the entry-level series. The 40 and 49-inch UE5700 models will be retailing at $500 and $600. They have 3840 x 2160 4K resolutions, which is about four times that of the Full HD. Consequently, the TVs have much better clarity.

The UE5700 TVs have HDMI 2.0, MHL, USB and VGA connection ports. As such, you can connect multiple devices to them such as game consoles, PC and DVD/Blue-ray players. The TVs are ideal for gamers, photographers or anybody else that get UHD content from external devices.

The UH9500 models are the premium series. The series includes 55, 65 and 85-inch models. The TVs boast 4K resolutions and a Smart TV platform. Their HEVC decoding supports 4K streaming , and you can connect to 4K devices through HDMI 2.0. As such, you can stream Netflix content with these TCL TVs. In addition, these TVs also have Dual Band 802.11 2 x 2 Wi-Fi so that you can instantly access movies, shows and sports through your favorite apps. Note that none of the models are 3D compatible.

As of yet TCL have not confirmed exactly when the TVs will come out. The first will probably come out in the USA during Q4 2014. Below are some specifications for the UH9500 and UE5700 TV series, which will be great budget alternatives to other 4K TVs.
