Meet YI Technology’s new 4K action camera. The manufacturer has developed and released one of their newest 4K UHD products, the YI 4K Action Camera to the U.S market, or will do so as of July 12th more specifically.
With that said, the YI 4K Action Camera will be retailing for just $249 and is designed to be a direct competitor to much more recognized U.S brand products like the UHD GoPro Hero 4 action camera and other similar models in this surprisingly crowded segment of the 4K camera market niche.
The new YI 4K camera offers up what we’d call pretty standard specs in the 4K action cam market. This means that it can deliver 4K UHD video at 30 frames per second Full HD shooting at 120fps and 720p video at a hefty and slow-motion video-friendly 240fps. Furthermore, the YI 4K Action Camera offers up 12 megapixel still photography and comes with a 155 degree wide-angle lens with f/2.8 aperture. The lens is in fact manufactured by Sony and is one of their IMX377 devices, which is also found in mobile devices like the Nexus 6P and 5X smartphone models.
More interestingly, the YI 4K cam also comes with a 2.19 inch LCD display with touchscreen capacity and its internal power source is a 1400mAh battery that YI Technology claims can shoot 4K UHD video for 120 minutes at a time, which is indeed impressive compared to the shooting capacity of even the GoPro Hero 4 Black. Prolonged Full HD shooting will obviously even easier with this claimed battery endurance.
Finally, the YI 4K delivers connectivity via built-in Bluetooth, 2.4GHz/5GHz WiFi and a YI Action App that’s currently only available for Android devices.
YI Technology will be offering this latest addition to the 4K action camera market for $249 for the camera alone and $279 for a package that also comes with a selfie stick and Bluetooth remote. Like we said, the YI 4K Action camera starts shipping as of the 12th of July.
