Weekend 4K Deal: LG’s 4K UHD HDR Blu-ray Player On A Pretty Massive Discount
Juan Carlos Ropel, Oct 14, 2017
If you’re a fan of some seriously complete home theater performance then LG’s 4K UHD Blu-ray player might just be for you, especially if you’re on a budget right now. Furthermore, if you already own one of LG’s generally excellent 4K UHD TVs from recent years (and especially from among the 2016 and 2017 4K OLED models), then the following offer is a great way of keeping things consistent and simple. After all, connectivity doesn’t get simpler than an LG 4K Blu-ray device hooked up to an LG TV with all the same compatibilities.
For these reasons, Amazon’s most recent and still ongoing deal on an LG UP970 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player is a fairly decent bargain. The $299 list-priced LG UP970 is now selling for a hefty discount of $73 and offers some very robust and highly versatile 4K media playback specs, including support for HDR10 content formats and media and, even more importantly, support for Dolby Vision planned for a near future firmware update (at the time of this writing). This specs is particularly useful for Dolby Vision 4K HDR TV owners, since only some UHD Blu-ray players provide Dolby support and they can be quite pricey at that. If anything, the LG UP970 is one of the cheapest Dolby Vision-friendly options out there right now.
Other features of this compact, easy to use UHD Blu-ray player include 3D Blu-ray support, DVD playback and playback of most other disc media, streaming 4K video from Amazon, Netflix and others and of course connectivity specs which include integrated WiFi and dual HDMI 2.0 ports.
You pretty much can’t go wrong with the LG UP970 and that Dolby Vision feature is a definite plus for those of you who own Dolby Vision 4K TVs of any kind (including LG 4K TVs which all support Dolby Vision since 2016).
