These really are the 7 best 4K UHD HDR TV deals of all for this Black Friday
Stephan Jukic – November 25, 2016
The sheer volume of deals this Black Friday might get a bit overwhelming, especially if you just want to get your hands on one single simple 4K TV deal and hopefully make sure that it’s a genuinely good offering on a 4K TV you’ll be happy with. This isn’t too much to ask for but in the wash of discounts for dozens of 4K TVS from numerous brands, it can be a bit tricky to know exactly what’s crappy even at a discount and what suddnely becomes a fantastic offer.
Fortunately, we know exactly what to generally look for in a solid, performance 4K TV and we have a particularly good eye for what models promise the best value and quality for the dollars spent on them at this year’s major (or sometime minor) discounts. With that in mind, here are our top 7 picks for the best 4K TV Black Friday 2016 deals in terms of actual value and quality delivered by each TV for its discounted price. Some of these aren’t cheap even at a discount but they’re still seriously worth it if you have a bit of a bigger Black Friday budget.
This is without a doubt one of the most spectacular 4K TV deals we’ve seen so far this year. The OLED B6 55 inch model was until only recently retailing for a whopping $3,998 and here it is selling for the price of a high-end LCD 4K TV. This LG TV offers display specs that are the equal of the best flagship OLED TVs from the same brand and no LCD 4K television can beat its local dimming or black performance. If you want superb 4K TV display without spending a fortune, this is the Amazon.com deal to go for this year.
The KS8000 is as good as the flagship Samsung SUHD KS9500 and KS9800 in almost all of its specs except for the level of peak brightness it achieves, and even in this metric of performance, the different is very slight. With that in mind, the reduced $997.99 price that Amazon is offering for this TV which normally sells for over $1500 is definitely worth considering. Given the display performance of the KS8000, we consider this to be the second 4K TV best offer on Amazon today.
This is without a doubt a rock solid deal on a top-shelf piece of 4K HDR LCD TV technology that we consider to be the second best of its kind on today’s market. The Samsung KS9800 offers all the stunning specs of the other 2016 SUHD TVs, like incredible black levels, almost unmatched peak brightness and wicked HDR color performance, but also adds full-array LED backlighting into the mix. This means far better local dimming and better performance than edge-lit but similarly priced rivals like the KS9500 or the Sony X930D.
Best buy is offering a fantastic deal on one of the best affordable premium 4K HDR TV lineups of 2016. The Vizio P-Series models offer fantastic black performance, incredible color delivery (full HDR color) and virtually perfect motion handling for console gaming and all sorts of action content. This sale offer on the 50 inch P-Series will save you over $200 off its regular price.
We love the compact X800D and while this is noe of Sony’s budget 4K TV models, it offers a full roster of premium specs which include complete wide color gamut and 10-bit color coverage, HDR10 display compatibility and the same upscaling and smart TV features as its premium cousins the X930D and X940D. The 43 inch model offers excellent black performance with its VA panel design and is superbly priced at $598.
The Samsung KU6300 may not be the best of the brand’s 2016 4K TV bunch but we consider it to be one of the better mid-range 4K TVs on sale today. This is mainly because this particular 4K TV offers some exceptionally good black performance and peak brightness for its price. It may lack the full wide color gamut combo of its pricier KU7000 cousin (the KU6300 only offers 10-bit color) but this extremely affordable Samsung TV makes up for that with particularly impressive contrast ratios, peak brightness and deep, rich blacks.
We reviewed the Sony Z9D 4K TVs only recently and stick by our opinion that they are by far the best non-OLED 4K HDR TVs we’ve ever seen. This model not only offers almost unbelievable peak brightness at above 1800 cd/m2, it also delivers a full-array LED back panel which can manage an unheard of 1000 local dimming zones. Nothing from any other rival LCD HDR 4K TV matches these specs or even comes close to doing so. In other words, the Z9D model is the closest thing to an OLED TV we’ve yet seen from LCD TVs and in some ways it even outshines OLED. At $4,998 it’s still quite pricey but still a good deal considering its fantastic display performance.
