The Top 7 Black Friday 2015 Deals on 4K ultra HD PC Monitors, UHD iMacs and gaming platforms
Stephan Jukic – November 27, 2015
It’s Black Friday today and the deals are piling up through a wide range of retailers and for all sorts of products. 4K Ultra HD gadgets are no exception to this rule and as we’ve covered so far across several posts, there are a number of superb deals to be found if you pick through the chaff carefully.
With that in mind, we bring you our latest news about the best deals we’ve found so far on 4K UHD monitors and desktop devices right now. In a huge market with lots of deals that aren’t actually so much of deals when you take a careful look at them, we’ve taken the trouble to locate the ones we think represent the best and most genuine Black Friday savings on some excellent products.
Thus, the following list of monitors gives you the heads up on what’s what, what’s good about each product covered and for the most part deals with devices which we ourselves have actually reviewed, so that as many bases as possible are covered. So take a look and see if you find what you’re looking for.
In a final note before we move onto the listings themselves: for professional designers and gamers both, especially those of either group who really want to ramp up the sheer clarity and quality of what they’re doing on their personal computers, 4K ultra HD display technology is pretty much unbeatable for now (except for 5K, which only exists on a small number of PC screens).
You can also find links to all of these deals and many more in our Black Friday Discussion Forum thread. And we highly recommend that you also check out our posts on Black Friday 4K TV deals and on 4K UHD cameras and camcorders.
4K UHD Monitors/PCs
21.5″ iMac with Retina 4K display (B&H Photo Video)
B&H Photo Video is on a Mac roll for this year’s Black Friday and as such, they’re slashing the prices on pretty much all of their retail market configurations of the new 21.5 inch iMac 4K with Retina display and of the older but still deeply impressive 27 inch iMac 5K with Retina display.
Starting with the 21.5 inch 4K iMac we’ve got a deal for you from B&H which covers the MK452LL/A model of this particular iMac for a discounted price of $1,349, or a $150 savings off the regular retail price of $1,499. This particular 21.5 inch model comes with a 3.1GHz processor, 8GB of RAM and a 1 terabyte HDD storage. On top of all that, there is also the exquisitely clear True 4K Retina display with a resolution of 4096 x 2304 pixels, which is well above the more common 3840 x 2160 pixels.
27 inch 5K Retina iMac (Best Buy, B&H Photo Video)
Next up and from the same source, we have the 27 inch 5K iMac. This particular desktop model was first released back in October of 2014 and has since then gone through one or two minor revisions on its design. Currently, the 5K iMac represents not only one heck of a powerful, beautifully elegant desktop PC machine, it also offers one of the sharpest, most densely pixelated computer resolutions on the market today and best of all, its internal El Capitan OSX is fully geared to scale perfectly with all those extra pixels.
Via B&H Photo Video, the 5K iMac is available in these three following versions:
Best Buy is also offering some Black Friday Savings on this particular iMac with their own deal for a 3.3HGz version with an 8GB RAM and a 1TB Fusion storage drive. In the case of Best Buy’s deal, the savings are even more impressive with a Black Friday price of just $1,759.99. This is the same model that’s now on sale for $2,099 from B&H above.
Acer 28″ B286HK 4K UHD Monitor (Newegg)
Newegg is also holding its own Black Friday 2015 discount offers and in the realm of 4K ultra HD monitors from this particular site, we present to you the Acer 28 inch B286HK 4K PC monitor. Today, it’s on sale from Newegg for just $349.99. Since we’ve reviewed this particular monitor in the past, we can absolutely vouch for this being a great sale price in which a solid $150 has been shaved off the more regular retail market MSRP.
The Acer’s 28″ B286HK is a superb 4K gamer’s monitor with a 4K UHD resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, a 60Hz refresh rate and full stand adjustability. Furthermore, it comes with a lightning fast TN display screen and a VESA-compatible bracket along its back.
Samsung U28E590D 4K UHD Gaming Monitor (Amazon.com, Best Buy)
Once again we come back to Best Buy’s superb Black Friday 2015 deals in the form of the Samsung U28E590D 4K ultra HD monitor, which is selling from the retail giant today for a deeply slashed price of just $399.99. This is a $200 savings from its regular price of $599.99 and this discount represents some truly serious value given this particular monitor’s specs.
Amazon.com however takes things even further for their Black Friday discount on the U28E590D and is offering the 4K PC monitor right now for an even cheaper $369.99, for a total 38% discount of $230.00.
Despite these wonderfully low prices, the U28E590D is not slouch whatsoever as far as 4K UHD monitors go and we at 4K.com consider it to be one of the best all-around 4K UHD displays on sale for 2015. With a remarkably vibrant and crisp IPS display, superb connectivity (with HDMI 2.0) and a great visual appeal, the U28E590D is perfect for gamers and visual design professionals both.
Dell P2415Q 4K Ultra HD Monitor (Amazon.com)
Amazon is also offering a great deal on Dell’s slightly utilitarian but wonderfully decked out and compact P2415Q 4K ultra HD monitor. Instead of its more conventional retail price of $599.99, this highly functional and flexible UHD display is being sold for just $419.98 on this Black Friday 2015. This is a discount of 30% for a savings of $180.01.
The Dell P2415Q offers a mix of utilitarian functionality, full adjustability for swivel, tilt, rotation and height and also brings 99% sRGB color gamut coverage to the table. HDMI and USB connectivity is of course built into the P2415Q and the 4K UHD visuals on its IPS display look wonderfully vibrant. Furthermore a native 60Hz refresh rate tops things off for an excellent office or home work space monitor.
ASUS PB287Q 4k UHD LED Monitor (Best Buy, Amazon.com)
Finally, we top things off with one last Amazon and Best Buy 4K UHD monitor deal for this year’s Black Friday sales. This is for the Asus PB287Q 4k UHD LED Monitor and it’s a decent little discount deal despite being weaker than some of the others above. Best Buy is selling the PB287Q 4K UHD PC display for $447.99 for a rather slim savings of $37 off the regular price. Amazon is offering something similar with a discount of $51 off their usual price for this particular PC screen.
The Asus PB287Q is a highly adjustable, flexibly designed gamer-friendly 4K monitor with a TN display panel that offers a 60Hz native refresh rate and wonderfully fast 1 ms response time. The Asus also offers connectivity for HDMI, DisplayPort 1.2 and MHL, but oddly seems to lack USB connectivity.
Nvidia Shield 4K UHD streaming/gaming platform (Amazon.com, Best Buy, Newegg)
Finally, for all you gaming and streaming online 4K UHD content lovers out there, we wrap this post up with a particularly excellent final deal from Amazon.com in the form of the Nvidia Shield 4K UHD Android TV media box. In this particular Black Friday 2015 deal, the Nvidia Shield regular and Pro versions of the Android TV and gaming platform will be selling for an in-store discount of $50 and a free remote control inclusion as well. This means that the Shield regular platform will be selling for just $150 while the Pro version of the platform (with twice the 16GB storage memory of the regular system) will sell for just $250. This deal will apply to Fry’s GameStop, Micro Center and Best Buy brick & mortar store locations.
Furthermore, for those of you who don’t want to brave the crowds, the exact same deal above will also be taking effect on Cyber Monday but for online retailers including Amazon.com and Newegg.
