The rumors pan out: Apple announces 4-inch iPhone SE with 4K video, starting at $399

After rumors which indicated this very thing hit the web and our own site in recent weeks, now the news is confirmed, Apple has formally announced the upcoming iPhone SE with 4K video recording capacity. This will be the company’s most robustly powerful 4 inch smartphone to-date and it sports a cool, sleek design in typical Apple style.
The iPhone SE comes with a compact aluminum body with matte-chamfered edges, a color-matched stainless steel Apple logo and a fine metallic finish in four different tones. Additionally, eventual owners of the new phone can look forward to some hefty power under the surface polish, with the same 64-bit A9 chipset technology found in the powerful iPhone 6S and 6S Plus phones along with faster processing overall and longer battery life. Also, like its 6S/6S Plus cousins, the SE boasts a robust 12 megapixel iSight camera that offers 4K video recording and Live Photos. There is also Touch ID with Apple Pay.
If the 4K video recording chops of the previously released 6S and 6S Plus phones are anything to go by, the shooter in the iPhone SE will also be one very fine little piece of hardware, good enough even for professional documentary video recording or pro photography as well
Apple has also integrated their next-generation M9 processor into the A9 chipset, allowing for a broader range of features and lower power use at the same time. Users can also access Siri without touching the phone. Furthermore, the iPhone ME’s Wifi has been beefed up threefold over that of the iPhone 5s and the new phone’s LTE system is 50% faster. This new phone also comes with more bands for LTE communication and offers up superior worldwide roaming while including Voice over LTE and WiFi calling for money-saving and crisp wideband phone calls.
Siri itself has also undergone some improvements on the new iPhone, with a new Night Shift function for adjusting colors and display automatically to fit comfortable viewing at night. This feature works through the phones clock and geolocation functions.
Finally, moving back to that very cool new camera, what’s coming with the SE will apparently be as good as what we saw in the iPhone 6S/Plus combo of phones from late 2015, which were good enough even for Vogue Magazine fashion shoots. Focus Pixel technology will allow fast focusing while an Apple-designed image signal processor, noise reduction, tone mapping and improved face-detection systems will all also work together for superior image grabbing. As for the 4K video, it will manage 3840 x 2160 pixels at 30fps. There will also be Retina Flash and the ability to take massive 63 megapixel panoramic photos.
The iPhone SE is coming in silver, gold, rose gold and “space grey” metallic finishes with both a 16GB and 64GB model being available. The 16GB version will retails for $399. As for buying sources, these include Apple’s own stores, Apple.com, company authorized resellers and select data carriers.
Orders for the new phone open up as of Thursday March 24th and the phone will be reaching buyers’ hands as of the 31st of March.
