Sony’s Awesome Little Solution for Beginner Filmmakers.

If you’re a film maker who’s just starting out and really want to get yourself started with the best via 4K video production despite a low purchasing budget, then Sony has the solution for you.
It comes in the form of the FDR-AX100E 4K video production camcorder and this is one very compact, powerful piece of work. We’ve already reviewed this camera in depth here on 4K.com and it gives you an excellent opening into the world of 4K filming, comes loaded with some very good professional grade specs and best of all costs only a fraction of what full pro 4K video cameras normally go for.
The FDR-AX100E retails for just $2000 MSRP despite its well-equipped and compact package and the 4K video it produces looks exquisite on a UHD screen while remaining beautiful even when viewed in conventional HD.
The video shot with the FDR-AX100E will give you a full UHD resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels when shot at 4K settings at a maximum rate of 30 frames per second, which is about 60 Mbps per second if viewed as uncompressed streaming content.
Sony’s little camcorder weighs in at just under 2 pounds with its battery installed, is very easy to handle, easy to learn the ropes of 4K on if you’re an amateur and offers whole series of different video resolution settings and frame rates, ranging from the above-mentioned 4K at 30fps to Full 1080p HD at 60 fps and even lower HD resolutions at a very nice 120 frames per second, which is fantastic for slow-motion playback video.
All of the 4K video shot by the FDR-AX100E is formatted in Sony’s XAVC S video format and comes ideal for the 4K market in general. But, the camera also comes with a very clever “dual video” format in which it can simultaneously shoot Full 4K resolution and a much lower resolution and memory intensive MP4 version of the same shoot which you can easily upload to a mobile device and share to social media or the web.
Furthermore, the camera lets you take 4K still photos from any video you’re filming with the push of a single button on the fly.
However, the camcorders biggest selling feature for the amateur film maker is the 4K video flexibility and features it offers for such an incredible price. These include the resolution itself, an external microphone jack, HDMI 2.0 out, a multi-port jack that moves video straight to a USB external drive and a fantastic audio recording capacity thanks to its 5.1-channel surround mic and 2-channel linear PCM audio.
Auto settings for focus, zoom and lighting work effectively on the FDR-AX100E and a whole host of manual settings for aperture, ISO, shutter speed and light intensity are easy to learn and use when filming in variable conditions.
The AX100E also comes with a powerful and flexible 1×1” EXMOR R CMOS sensor, a very quick internal BIONZ X processor for quick manipulation of 4K video footage and the awesome feature of Sony’s Night Shot 4K filming capacity, which lets you capture infra-red night vision video in full 4K clarity.
While the AX100E is certainly no Blackmagic or RED Scarlet X 4K video production camera, it still offers some truly excellent specs that are full up to the task of giving you professional looking 4K footage under flexible conditions. Given its $2000 USD price tag, this camera is an absolutely fantastic purchase.
