Sony to Showcase its 4K Line of Products at IBC 2014 in September

Sony has made public the fact that it will be using this year’s IBC 2014 Electronics convention in Amsterdam, Holland to showcase a wide range of its technological innovations and new products.

The IBC conference, which is one of the biggest in the world for innovations in media electronics, will be held between the 12th and 16th of September in the European city.

Sony itself will be demonstrating several of its latest developments in 4K technology, which the company is working hard to promote, and will also explain how its 4K products address the needs of content creators.

Sony, which produces and develops a wide array of 4K consumer and professional technologies, will be using the IBC conference to demonstrate how its network of products, systems, services and expertise is a powerful tool for the entire entertainment and visual media industry.

This demonstration at IBC comes in the wake of a long summer of major promotional efforts by the company aimed at showing the power of Ultra HD resolution to the public worldwide. Most notable of all these promotional demonstrations was Sony’s 4K filming of the FIFA World Cup in Brazil for live transmission of select matches to audiences in the U.K and Brazil itself.

As part of its FIFA related promotion of 4K, Sony partnered with several major media and satellite broadcasting companies to deliver live streams of three matches, including the quarter final and the final match of the World Cup, to live audiences in digital cinemas in the U.K where the matches were watched in full 4K definition via Sony UHD projectors.

At the IBC conference, Sony will also show off its 4K Ready PXWX70 camera, which is the first ever XDCAM professional camcorder ever produced and which creates video in both Full HD and 4K Ultra HD resolutions for professional production use.

Additionally, the company will also be showcasing several other technological solutions and innovations that relate to media. Among these are Sony’s IP based solutions for allowing broadcasters to deliver precise multi-camera live productions of events without any continuity drops of any kind.

Furthermore, Sony will be showcasing the extreme precision and visual clarity of its professional XDCAM production cameras when used in broadcast media settings of all kinds on an international level. Part of this promotion will include highlighting the fact that several major news networks such as RTP, Al Jazeera, ITV, Scottish TV and RA1 have switched to Sony’s line of production cameras and particularly its new XDCAM video recording devices.

According to Oliver Bovis, head of audio/visual media for Sony Europe, “IBC is always an exciting event for us, since it provides a great opportunity to meet with our customers and partners to trigger ideas which could distinguish the future of professional A/V”.

Given Sony’s massive investment in 4K technology and its growing impact on professional visual production media, we can be sure that 4K will be a major part of the Sony presence at 1BC 2014.
