Dunkirk, the 2017 WW2 film written, directed, and co-produced by Christopher Nolan is now available on 4KUHD Blu-ray via various retail outlets and online stores.

Dunkirk is critically acclaimed as one of the best war movies of all time, and one of the highest-grossing World War II films of all time, surpassing even Steven Spielberg’s “Saving Private Ryan”. This absolute masterpiece by Nolan is also one of the top contenders for Best-Film on the upcoming Academy and Golden Globe Awards for this year, and now you can get it at Amazon in 4K ultra HD and with HDR mastering at a special price of $29.96. The additional resolution coupled with full high dynamic range should make this theatrical masterpiece all the more visually stunning to behold, assuming you have the right kind of 4K TV.

In case you haven’t watched it yet, Dunkirk is set in 1940, during the fall of France against the Nazi regime, where hundreds of thousands of British and Allied soldiers have retreated to the shores of Dunkirk, France, which is surrounded by the German army. The movie crosscuts three story lines happening during the famous evacuation (on land, sea and sky) from three different chronologies (one week, one day, one hour). Nolan orchestrates these sequences with precision, and editor Lee Smith, who has worked in most of the director’s films, expertly cross-cuts among them.

Dunkirk is probably the best movie of 2017 to watch in a 4K TV. The production stayed away from CGI as much as possible, and it was actually filmed on location in Dunkirk with real war ships and fighter planes. In one sequence Nolan had a replica Spitfire plane perform a landing in the English Channel.

Dunkirk also features an impressive style of aerial photography that captures war from a series of dizzying angles in combination with some of the most vivid action sequences we have seen in many years. All this is accompanied by Hans Zimmer’s outstanding score that generates a sense of urgency which is accentuated by the ticking clock incorporated into the sound mix.

The movie also has some extraordinary performances by Tom Hardy (as a Spitfire pilot), Mark Rylance (as a civilian boat owner who sails to the rescue of British soldiers) and Fionn Whitehead (as a British soldier), amongst others.

You can get your 4K UHD Blu-ray of Dunkirk on Amazon for $29.96 starting December 19th. The 4K Blu-ray version of Dunkirk comes in three discs including the movie in 4K HDR format, extras of making the film and an UltraViolet digital copy for watching the film anywhere.

Dunkirk is the worst film of Nolan’s career, which came as a shock to this Nolan fan. Only the actual Dunkirk fiasco was more of a shambles than the film.
