TP-Link, the popular Chinese manufacturer of computer electronics with headquarters in Shenzhen, has now entered the smart home camera market with its new model, the Kasa Cam KC120.

The home security camera has a 130° wide-angle to record 24/7 crystal clear video at a 1080p resolution, recording at 30fps with H.264 video compression. It has two-way audio, infrared night vision with a range of up to 25 ft. and motion detection, which starts recording automatically every time it senses motion or sound.

The main thing about the Kasa is that the footage is stored free (up to 1 GB) on the cloud that the company also runs, named “Kasa Care”. This comes handy as you don’t have to worry about running out of disk space to store your important security recordings, but if you need more storage you can get it by buying a Premier Kasa Care membership or by a 30 day trial when you register your camera.

You as a user can also watch every video on the cloud or totally control your home camera right from your smartphone or tablet through the activity center in the Kasa App, which is compatible with Android and iOS devices.

Another great features of the Kasa Cam KC120 is that it is compatible with Amazon Echo and Google Assistant as well as for pairing to other TP-Link smart home products, thus giving you the ability to control a whole range of options and technologies in your home with voice commands. One example asking the camera to bring up a live feed of a certain part of the house or to simply start recording from inside your house or remotely as required for a particular reason.

The Kasa Cam comes in a somehow conventional design, it includes a mounting bracket for easy wall placement and a magnetic base for installing on metal surfaces without drilling all over, so it should be really easy to install and have running in just minutes once the Kasa App is downloaded and installed as well.

TP-Link’s Kasa Cam KC120 is already available for purchase in the US at the price of $130, this includes the 30 day expanded storage trial and 1GB of free constant storage.  Continued additional cloud space requires a premium membership to the Premier Kasa Care service.
