A crowdfunding project launched on Indiegogo by the Chinese company Moment is offering a foldable 4K aerial camera drone that offers many of the great capabilities of mainstream models, but at a much lower price. These include auto-tracking, 4k video shooting and a foldable design. To top things off, the Moment Foldable drone also comes with fully encased rotors, guaranteeing that they at least won’t snap right off during in-flight accidents.

The Simtoo Moment’s optical sensor allows you to capture 4K UHD 25fps video and 12-megapixel still shots, as well as allowing for shooting in multiple modes, including sweep panorama, continuous capture, and delay capture.

The Moment aerial camera can also track faces or bodies using visual detection technology. By setting the auto-tracking function, the drone will follow you while remaining suspended in the air and keep shooting blur-free footage or images at the same time thanks to its built-in electronic stabilizer, which is designed to withstand turbulence and reduce the rolling shutter effect.

The compact UAV also comes with an ultrasonic sensor under its body which helps detect surfaces or closing objects. Furthermore, it features SLAM 3D technology, to aid in generating a 3D map of its surroundings.

Better still, the Simtoo Moment Drone is extremely portable. It only weights 400gr (14 Oz) and features a small, compact, foldable body in a book shape. And as we alluded to above, you could safely grab and launch the Moment UAV with your bare hands since it features a plastic enclosure to protect your fingers from its blades, making it suitable for all-ages and indoor flying.

For a bit of versatility, the Moment also comes with three different flight modes (Low, Medium and High sensitivity mode) to meet individual needs.  Its lifted by 4-inch tri-blade propellers let it cruise along at a fairly decent consumer UAV speed of up to 11 mph (18 kph) and the drone will fly continuously for up to 15 minutes, with a convenient “return to home” feature built into its for when the battery starts to die.

Overall, the Moment Drone is great for casual users of varied ages who want to safely and affordably play around with capturing drone-recorded 4K footage. As for actually buying this nicely priced little 4K-capable UAV, it’s available exclusively through the creators Indiegogo page for now at $200. The Moment drone is expected to start shipping on October 2017.
