Stephan Jukic – January 31, 2017

Unveiled and shown off at ISE 2017, the JVC DLA-VS4500 is one of JVC’s few truly native 4K professional projectors for the graphics/video visualization market and it combines this high cinematic resolution with a BLU-Escent laser illumination technology that is designed to handle even highly demanding visualization under conditions that aren’t too projector-friendly due to its massive native brightness capacity.

And when we say that the DLA-VS4500 from JVC offers some impressive specs, we mean it. This model offers up a native resolution of cinematic 4K at 4096 x 2160 pixels and spreads it across three D-ILA imagers for some very impressive 12-bit imagery backed by a superb 3000 ANSI lumens brightness level that produces some very impressive native contrast ratios depending on the projectors specific settings.

As for video support, the DLA-VS4500 is compatible with a wide range of video and imaging formats with compatibility specs for most types of pro visualization/simulation video and consumer, commercial 4K video as well if one wanted to use the projector for that end. Furthermore, this JVC powerhouse of a projector offers up a native 120Hz refresh rate for excellent artifact-free motion handling and smooth picture quality overall, making it an ideal model for professional applications like interactive video visualizations and flight simulation.

JVC has also given the DLA-VS4500 a broad range of fixed and zoom lens options for assorted throw ratio needs and the company claims that the projector’s BLU-Escent laser/phosphor technology is particularly well designed for the interactive simulation video market due to its robust reliability even after prolonged use. BLU-Escent also provides excellent brightness and color stability while delivering intense native (real) contrast ratios of about 12,000:1 under a flexible range of mounting parameters according to JVC. The company is also promising a 20,000-hour light source life for BLU-Escent technology

JVC has not yet released pricing details for the DLA-VS4500 but since this is a professional true 4K projector much more than it is a consumer home entertainment market, we’re not expecting it to be cheap by any measure. Basically, if you want home theater projection from JVC without spending a ton, the brand’s e-Shift pseudo-4K models are much more reasonable choices.

The JVC DLA-VS4500 starts shipping to buyers in the spring of this year, with no particular date yet specified.
