Arecont Vision is a major manufacturer of IP megapixel cameras and associated technologies and now they’ve taken their expertise and used it to develop what’s going to be very useful for many high security business locations, a 4K surveillance camera.

The company’s new “MegaVideo” 4K Utra HD camera gives its users a total resolution of 8.3 megapixles for still shots and offers 4K video shooting at a steady 3o frames per second, thus guaranteeing spectacular still shots of any potentially suspicious activity. While 30 frames per second is less than excellent for entertainment and professional cinema cameras, for a camcorder or a surveillance setup, it’s more than perfect for truly top of the line security video feeds.

The resolution and frame rate of Arecont’s MegaVideo are ideal for what the company calls “mission critical” situations in which the most detailed possible video will be important.

According to Raul Calderon, Senio VP at Arecont Vision, “Our new 4K surveillance camera’s ability to capture Ultra HD resolution sets a new benchmark in professional video surveillance performance.”

The camera features a one inch 8.3 megapixel image sensor and extremely fast internal processing that is designed to run at four times the speed of conventional 8.3 megapixel cameras. The end effect behind this design is a supposedly unparalleled performance in both bright and low light conditions under even the toughest of conditions and security situations.

The MegaVision 4K camera also features a true Night/Day capability that lets it capture both color Ultra HD images in daylight or illuminated conditions and high resolution Black and White stills or video under dark and night time situations with hardly any ambient lighting.

Furthermore, according to Arecont, the sheer image quality of their new surveillance cameras ensures that overall expenses can actually be reduced despite the units higher individual cost thanks to the camera’s ability to capture a wider area on a per unit basis. The manufacturer claims that each of their MegaVision cameras can take the place of several Full HD 1080p surveillance cameras that are capable of creating 2 megapixel imagery at the same frame rates as the MegaVision.

Arecont Vision is a U.S based manufacturer of “high performance” mexapixel IP cameras that’s based in the U.S.

Other products in their roster include the MegaDome, MegaView, MicroDome and MegaBall surveillance video cameras.

Currently, while the overall 4K camera landscape evolves at a nearly breathtaking pace, the advent of 4K security cameras is a relatively new phenomenon and only recently have just a small few manufacturers begun offering specific products for sale whose purpose is security surveillance.

Panasonic, much more famous for its professional entertainment and photography cameras, is also entering this market with its own i-PRO ULTRA 360 dome camera that’s also built with surveillance in mind and which also features full 4K resolution.
