LG’s OLED 4K HDR 55 Inch B6 TV Now Selling For One Amazing Price On Amazon

Stephan Jukic – July 20, 2017

In 2016 we reviewed LG’s B6 OLED 4K HDR TV and decided that it was pretty much the single best 4K television of the year. It’s overall display performance was as good as or even in some cases better than that of the best flagship 2016 OLED 4K TVs and in comparison to virtually all other premium 4K televisions sold among last year’s models, this TV simply kicked ass across the board. It even delivered levels of peak brightness that no other 2016 OLED TV matched and which were even superior to those of many LCD 4K HDR TVs for 2016. (LCD HDR TVs normally deliver superior brightness to their OLED counterparts, we explain why right here in our OLED vs. LCD guide).

What’s more, even by the standards of all 2017 4K TV models, the B6  remains an absolutely excellent performer, with only slightly weaker color specs than its 2017 OLED 4K HDR cousins such as the C7, G7 and even LG’s flagship OLED for this year, the W7 flat panel OLED TV. In fact, as far as peak brightness is concerned, the B6 performs better than even any of its 2017 counterparts, based on the display brightness test results we described in our review of this television.

In other words, despite being a 2016 OLED 4K TV, the B6 is simply fantastic even now, by 2017 display performance standards. With that said, its current price is an absolute steal across the board. Amazon is now retailing the 55 inch model of this 4K TV for just $2,097.99 (via third party retailers but we’re naming the price of a new model here) and we definitely recommend it at that price.

In comparison, the 2017 LG OLED 4K HDR C7, which is the B6 model’s closest cousin for this year, sells for a retail price of $2,496 and offers pretty much identical display specs. The only major edge that the C7 offers over the B6 is its slightly updated Web0S 3.5 smart TV platform and the inclusion of Dolby Atmos sound pass-through, which the 2016 OLED lineup lacked. Again, if you want OLED display, 4K resolution, full HDR support for both HDR10 and Dolby Vision and an overall premium 4K TV experience at one very reasonable price by OLED standards, the current price of the 55 inch B6 is one genuinely good offer in terms of performance value per dollar spent.

Amazon’s 55 inch OLED55B6P Flat 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart OLED TV page for the television delivers all the retailer and shipping details you need for this TV. We suggest checking it out.

I have this TV and it is a great tv except for one thing. LG uses different chip sets in different models. This can cause problems with future updates to keep the TV up to features such as Dolby Atmos pass through. Dolby Atmos will not work with Atmos on sound bars or receivers. LG also just updated some
2016 models with HLG. Except this model. The chip in this model is different than there other 2016 models. Other than that this is a great TV.

It’s been selling for equivalent to USD 1620-1660 for several weeks in Sweden, and that’s with 25% VAT included. The B6 in 65″ sells for USD 2800 the last five weeks.

That is actually higher than Best Buy has been selling it for a year. Seriously?
