Layer3 TV To Offer “Bellator NYC” MMA Match in 4K UHD On Pay-Per-View
Stephan Jukic – June 16, 2017
Sports matches of any kind truly do deliver a powerful extra punch when viewed in 4K ultra HD resolution on a high quality 4K TV (especially with HDR added for some serious color and contrast punch) and this applies especially well to the fast paced action of a mixed-martial arts match. Fortunately for certain 4K HDR TV-owning fans of this this particular sport, Layer3 TV is offering up the Bellator NYC MMA bout featuring Sonnen vs. Silva at New York City’s Madison Square Garden via live pay-per-view in razor sharp 4K detail on Saturday June 24th at 10pm Eastern Time/ 7pm Pacific Time.
As of today, all existing and newly signed up subscribers of Layer3 TV can purchase access to this upcoming event when it goes live on the above date and there are options for viewing it in HD as well as the 4K that owners of ultra HD TV with the right connectivity will almost undoubtedly want. Layer3 TV is also planning on making the MMA bout available for viewing for a limited time on-demand after the live event. This option will also be in 4K resolution.
The June 24th match features a main fight between Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva with an undercard of 13 matches featuring such fighters as Russian Fedor Emelianenko against Matt Mitrione, championship bouts between Douglas Lima (28-6) at 170-pounds against Lorenz Larkin (18-5, 1 NC) and current lightweight champ Michael Chandler (16-3) up against the still unbeaten Brent Primus (7-0).
Layer3 TV, which is already serving up 4K on-demand entertainment, is available in several major metro areas including Los Angeles, Chicago, Washinton D.C, Dallas/Fort Worth and the metro Denver area, where the company happens to be headquartered. There is stil plenty of expension going on for the Layer3 TV service though and entries into other important markets are planned for the end of 2017. The company is also planning to broadcast a growing roster of live events in 4K ultra HD as 2017 progresses.
According to Layer3 CEO Jeff Binder,
“4K is a huge differentiator. We see huge differences in the content that we offer in 4k vs. HD. We see content interest that might be on an order of magnitude in 4K than we might see in HD.”
Binder also noted with some confidence that, “What we offer with this pay-per-view match in 4K is going to be a big deal”.
He further elaborated on this statement by explaining that hosting an event as large as the upcoming MMA fight night right in the heard of NYC at Madison Square Garden is a major achievement for Layer3 and further enticed subscribers to tine into the event in 4K by explaining that “Layer3 TV subscribers watching the event in 4K will feel as if they are front row. 4K is the best way to watch and be a part of Bellator history if you can’t be with us in the arena.”
Once again, Bellator MMA Night is airing on June 24th with a total of 13 matches leading up to the Sonnen vs. Silva Main Event that evening.
