After first unveiling them at the 2015 NAB show in Las Vegas in April of this year, Fujinon Cameras has finally announced that the first two lenses for the 4K ultra HD UA22X8 and UA80X9 are now available for shipping to customers.
As a portable zoom lens, the UA22X8 delivers a 22x zoom ratio with a focal length that ranges from 8mm in wide angle shooting to 176 mm in telephoto aperture. Furthermore, the floating focus system on this lens controls multiple lens groups depending on the shooting distance while delivering high quality and high contrast images anywhere between close up and an infinity setting.
In addition to the above, a 16-bit encoder comes standard in the camera and the lens can be linked to other system such as virtual studio modules for combining CG imagery to live action video footage.
On the other hand, the UA80X9 is more of a field lens that’s been designed particularly for shooting large scale events like pro concert videos in 4K and thus offers an 80x zoom while also delivering the ability to cover focal points from 9mm in wide angle to 720mm in telephoto settings. The UA80X9 also uses Fujinon proprietary optical simulation software, also comes with a 16-bit encoder and can connect to other, third party systems just like its UA22X8 cousin.
Finally, this second lens also features a High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating that’s been applied to the lenses by Fujifilm for the sake of enhanced transmission and color reproduction. Lastly, an optical stabilization system is standard for the UA22X8 as well.
Both of these lenses essentially offer optical performance that is compatible with 4K ultra HD 2/3-inch broadcast cameras
