Fujifilm showcasing its 4K and Cine-Style Zoom lenses at NAB 2016 Show in Las Vegas
Stephan Jukic – March 07, 2016
The 2016 NAB Show is on its way to Las Vegas for 2016, coming up between the 18th and 21s of th April, and among the many companies which will be present at the event, quite a few of them with their own 4K recording products and technologies, Fujifilm will also be one. The Optical Devices Division of the company’s North American branch will be on hand in booth C7125 to show off, among other things, their Fujinon 4K Ultra HD Series lenses, which are promising higher contrast and dynamic range along with their obvious compatibility with crystal clear higher than HD resolution. The lens series includes models like the UA80X9 field lens and the UA22X8 portable zoom –both of which are compatible with 4K 2/3-inch broadcast cameras.
The new lenses are certainly not amateur shooting toys and both are designed for professional broadcast applications, with the UA80X9 offering up an 80x zoom, image stabilization, advanced optical performance capabilities and focal lengths that range from 9mm in wide angle format to 720mm in a telephoto setting. As for the UA22X8, it comes with a 22x zoom ratio and a focal length that goes from 8mm in wide angle to 176mm in telephoto format. Thus, this second lens is aimed particularly at use in live sports, news reporting and broadcast program production work.
Fujifilm, which is no stranger to the world of 4K recording technology, will also be taking advantage of NAB 2016 to show off its Premier PL 4K+ Cine lenses, which range from 14.5 to 400mm. These models and their zoom ranges include the following: 14.5-45mm T2.0, 18-85mm T2.0, 24-180mm T2.6, and 75-400mm T2.8-T3.8. All of these lenses come with the fastest T speeds on the current market and offer up an “unprecedented” color matched 4K or higher resolution optical performance, according to Fujifilm.
In addition to the above 4K-oriented professional lens technologies, Fujifilm will also be showcasing its new XA55x9.5BESM 2/3-inch zoom and XA99x8.4 ultra-wide field production lenses at their NAB 2016 booth, and along with those, we can also look forward to seeing the company’s Fujinon Premiere Cabrio zoom lenses on display. These include the Fujinon PL 14-35mm, PL 19-90, PL 25-300mm, and PL 85-300. All of these offer proprietary detachable servo drive motors for electronic zoom, iris adjustment and focus. Furthermore, they’re also compatible with an optional PL 25.300 servo which allows the series to be used as standard PL or ENG-style lenses in cinema with industry standard wireless controllers or with Fujinon’s own wired units.
We’ll be covering a number of other new 2016 NAB Show releases as the event comes up, and we’re expecting more than a couple of interesting new 4K-oriented technological developments to emerge in the lead-up to April 18th.
