Club 3D Releases First USB 3.0 to 4K Graphics Adapter for Multiple Screens
by Stephan Jukic – July 31st, 2014
So maybe you’re wondering, why would you want a USB 3.0 4K display adapter? Well, there are a number of excellent reasons. The most obvious is you having an ultrabook with limited display options that can’t output in 4K resolution but you also happen to have a full 4K display monitor in your hands and want the two to connect properly for full enjoyment of UHD in 3,840 x 2,169 pixels.
For situations like this, the USB 3.0 to 4K adapter from Club 3D is the perfect tool. Part of a whole family of adapters that are all capable of similar conversions in UHD formats, the CSV series can adapt USB 3.0 ports to DisplayPort 4K, Displayport 1600p and DVI-I. This range of devices is the first implementation of the DisplayLink DL-5500 chipset and it also supports 10 bit color if your monitor or screen can also handle it.
These will be selling right about now at the beginning of August and their suggested retail price is sitting at $142.
Club 3D’s USB 3.0 Graphics adapters are designed for a multitude of UHD formats. These include, as already mentioned above, DVI-I (2048 X 1152P), DisplayPort (2560 X 1600p) and the best of all, the USB 3.0 to DisplayPort adapter for 4K level UHD at 3840 x 2160p.
The USB port of your typical PC or laptop is a multifunctional tool that can be used for connecting a whole assortment of devices and machines such as storage media, keyboards, mice, Mobile phones, tablets and display screens. What these adapters from Club 3D do is enable multiple display format connections between different screen types and machines for a multiscreen setup. More importantly still, they allow screens with different resolution formats that now include the different resolution types noted above.
Thanks to their multiple screen connecting ability, it’s possible for a user to take advantage of greater resolution clarity of some web content even if their native screen can’t handle it and at the same time work on a computer setup that runs multiple screens for better work, design or leisure capability.
The Club 3D USB 3.0 Graphics adapters are “Plug and display” certified and their 3.0 to 4K Graphics Adapter –the CSV-2302- is the first ever to take advantage of the new DisplayLink DL5500 chipset that allows for enabling 4K Ultra HD output into DisplayPort enabled 4K display screens at 30Hz. And while 30 Hz isn’t the best refresh rate for gaming or rapid movement activity, it’s perfectly decent for a lot of visual applications in 4K across multiple screens.
These Club 3D Graphics Adapters are designed to use minimal computer resources in terms of energy and processing power and can make for a useful solution in cases where users want to play or work on dual screens with 4K capability on hand if needed.
They’re backwards compatible with QHD and HD monitors, come with integrated DisplayPort audio and produce 3,840 X 2,160 pixel resolution at a rate of 30 Hz.
