Amidst all the awesome deals on 4K UHD TVs from Sony, Samsung, Vizio and other brands, and their deals on 4K Blu-ray players and gaming consoles, Amazon is also reducing prices on a number of the 4K HDR Blu-ray disc titles in its massive listings.

The online retailing website is home to what is possibly the largest collection of 4K UHD Blu-ray content titles available on or off the web today and while many of these 4K BD titles happen to be major 4K versions of key Hollywood studio movies released in late 2015 and 2016, there are also dozens of older and other more esoteric 4K Blu-ray offerings to choose from.

The major studio movies from the few Hollywood production houses are now regularly releasing 4K Blu-ray movie titles and these newer movies usually come with HDR included as part of their mastering and disc formatting. Basically, all of these numerous 4K blu-ray movie releases through Amazon make the perfect sort of low-cost gift for the upcoming Holiday season for any owners of 4K TVs and if possible 4K HDR TVs that you might know. The Amazon selection of 4K BD content is also a wonderful home entertainment buying choice for owners of ultra HD TVs who happen to not have access to a sufficiently powerful internet connection for streaming content from major sources like Netflix and Amazon Prime.

With their HDR mastering and native 4K resolution, the major studio release movies listed on Amazon’s 4K ultra HD Blu-ray disc page offer some of the best sources available today of quality 4K entertainment in native 4K with high dynamic range. If you own an HDR TV in particular, and especially one of the premium 2016 models from Sony, Samsung or another brand, which offer both wide color gamut and expanded black levels and peak brightness, then the incredible video quality of the HDR formatting in these movies will really be something to appreciate for its superiority to ordinary SDR video.

Since Amazon is also offering lots of deals on UHD TVs, HDR 4K TVs and even 4K Blu-ray players, today’s Black Friday is probably one of the best times of the year in which to pick up a whole cutting-edge HDR home entertainment system at a tremendous discount of hundreds, or even thousands of dollars.

The ultra HD Blu-ray movies on the Amazon 4K Blu-ray page aren’t as cheap as their HD BD and DVD counterparts but their prices have been reduced, in some cases by quite a lot, so check out the whole menu of movies and other content titles, here.

“4K BD content is also a wonderful home entertainment buying choice for owners of ultra HD TVs who happen to not have access to a sufficiently powerful internet connection for streaming content from major sources like Netflix and Amazon Prime.”

This line kinda irritates me, sorry. I’m sure the person who wrote it meant well. But nowhere on the list of talking points for Ultra HD Blu-ray (or even just regular ol’ Blu-ray) should be “it’s a great alternative if you can’t get Netflix.” Blu-ray is an alternative to Netflix the way an Aston Martin is an alternative to a Hyundai. On it’s best day Netflix couldn’t hope to stream UHD content at a fraction of the bitrate that plain old 1080p Blu-ray does in its sleep. Forget UHD Blu-ray. There’s not even a comparison that can be made there.
