If you are a huge fan of Bram Stocker’s Dracula and have “traveled oceans of time” to finally see one awesome remastered 4K UHD Blu-ray version of the film, you’ll be happy to know that the special edition Blu-ray is now on pre-sale and will start shipping next week.

The 3-time Oscar-winning Dracula version directed by Francis Ford Coppola is one of the most acclaimed romance/horror movies of the last century, and to celebrate its 25th anniversary, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has released the remastered title in 4K Ultra HD for Blu-ray. With Halloween nearly coming, this is perfect timing for fans to enjoy its amazing effects with higher clarity and color quality than ever seen before in a release of this early 90’s horror masterpiece.

The Ultra HD Blu-ray edition of “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” will be able to display a higher contrast, more vivid color, brighter images and three-dimensional sound quality thanks to the inclusion of High Dynamic Range (HDR) and a remixed Dolby Atmos soundtrack for home theater environments, which includes overhead sound.

If you are not familiar with this particular Dracula film, the highly stylized and almost surreal movie is co-starred by acting legend Gary Oldman (as the feared and beloved Dracula himself), Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder and Anthony Hopkins. The story is set in the late 19th Century. A young lawyer named Jonathan Harker travels to a lost castle in Transylvania, where he meets creepy Count Dracula, who in 1462 lost his beloved wife Elisabeta while he was fighting against the Ottomans. The Count, seeing Harker’s fiancé Mina Murray in a photograph, notes that she looks exactly like the long vanished Elisabeta. From here on Dracula travels secretly to London “crossing oceans of time” to meet and seduce her by whatever means possible in order to make her his for the rest of eternity.

With one of Gary Oldman’s truly superb performances out of many during his long career, the vicious, ancient count comes to life like virtually no other film version of Dracula ever has before or since, and the performance is truly worth seeing. The film’s grim, phantasmagoric visuals only add a deeply somber but cinematically mysterious atmosphere to the story and if you can manage to see all of these richly combined details of performance and effects in a version of this movie with HDR mastering if you have a solid 4K HDR televsion, the effect will definitely be worth the purchase price of this particular 4K HDR Blu-ray disc.

This new Blu-ray edition of Bram Stocker’s Dracula includes:

  • Reflections in Blood: Francis Ford Coppola and Bram Stoker’s Dracula
  • Practical Magicians: A Collaboration Between Father and Son
  • Deleted Scenes
  • 4 Legacy Featurettes
  • Audio Commentary & Film Introduction by Director Francis Ford Coppola
  • 1993 Audio Commentary with Francis Ford Coppola, Roman Coppola and Greg Cannom

The 4k HDR 25th Anniversary Edition of Bram Stocker’s Dracula Blu-ray will be released and start shipping on October 3. You can get it at Amazon at a price of $24.99
