AMD Launches FirePro W9100 and W8100 GPU’s for 4K workstations in Indian Market

PC loyalists and gamers in particular are big defenders of the bulky machines and firmly work to defend their computers against obsolescence by constantly doing their best to make them as advanced as possible. Now, the chip making gian AMD has a new treat in store for those of them on the Indian market.
AMD India, at a very recent event held on September 25th, unveiled as many as three new GPUs (graphics card processors) that are designed to give some outstanding video graphics processing power for the latest and most powerful generations of future-ready 4K workstation and gaming PCs on the market.
The three new GPUs range from the AMD FirePro W8100, the AMD FirePro W9100 and the GCN-powered AMD Radeon R9 285.
What the company hopes to achieve with each of these new GPUs is a more powerful overall computing experience for its customers but more specifically, it wants to see workstation performance levels reach their absolute peak levels and become ready to handle visual technologies as heavy as 4K display.
Specifically speaking about the W8100 and W9100 series GPUs, AMD wants to deliver a Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture that’s specifically ready for 4K.
The company itself elaborated on this point by claiming that, “With an increase in availability and accessibility of 4K displays, there has been a rise in the applications demanding increased memory support while pushing the limits of real-time 4K video production and rendering” This is according to Raja Koduri, Corporate VP of Visual Computing at AMD.
Furthermore, according to Koduri, “The addition of AMD FirePro W8100 is a significant step towards expanding our product portfolio for enabling professionals –in cooperation with our hardware and software partners- with the best kind of workstation performance that they need for supercomputing applications and next generation 4K workflows.”
The FirePro w8100, along with its other two cousin GPUs, is marketed by AMD as an ideal professional solution for tasks such as extremely detailed CAD in 4K as well as for applications that need to master the heaviest sorts of video editing, color correction and design visualization related projects. All of these will need a much more accelerated GPU and that’s what the W8100 is designed to be.
The FirePro W8100 also comes with 8GB of ultra-fast GDDR5 internal memory and is designed to handle the much larger datasets and heavier Ultra HD video frames that 4K will require in a PC.
The W8100’s cousing, the W9100 takes things much further still in terms of power and is designed to offer all of the same benefits of its smaller cousin but with some serious professional ramping up.
Instead of a 8GB internal GDDR5 memory, it instead offers a 16GB memory and can be used for multitasking on as many as 6 different 4K displays at the same time.
In other words, the FirePro W9100 is built to offer supercomputer level processing abilities in a single GPU.
