IFA, also known by its full name as Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin, is an enormous annual trade show for all sorts of the latest consumer electronics that gets held each year in Berlin, Germany at this time of the year.

At this year’s IFA, we can look forward to a whole host of assorted new technologies ranging from 5 inch phone screens to 65 inch OLED 4K smart TVs and also including a number of technology platforms that tie all of these things together in different ways.

However, most interesting at this year’s IFA are going to be the 4K TVs we’re going to be hearing about and seeing. Just like CES 2014 earlier in the year, IFA is a major host for the latest TV technology released by the big electronics players.

Let’s take a look at what some of the big brands are expected to show off this year:

The definite king of the TV technology show for IFA 2014, hell for the whole year itself, is going to be LG. This is because the company has pushed ahead the TV tech market by at least a couple of years thanks to its very recently announced release of the World’s first 4K OLED TV series.

At this year’s IFA, the electronics giant is going to be showing off these OLED models, which are already selling in 65 inch and 77 inch models for some very steep price tags, even by 4K standards –the 77 inch model alone will cost well above $30,000 USD!

Both of these OLED 4K models will be on display at IFA 2014 along with a more modest 55 inch model and they are definitely going to draw in the crowds of TV technology fans.

Panasonic will also be showing off its latest in 4K hardware at IFA this year. This is going to include showcasing Ultra HD TV models from its Viera range of smart TVs that will finallt be enabled with the capacity to decode the HEVC video compression format that most streaming 4K services in the world today use.

Up till now this was a feature that only the higher end brands like LG, Samsung and Sony offered in their 4K models.

And speaking of Samsung, the company has announced that it will be bringing brand new 4k content to its audiences via streaming services provided by Netflix and Amazon Prime as of this October. This new agreement between the two major technology brands will enable Samsung 4K TV owners to get their hands on some awesome new shows that have all been filmed by the two streaming providers in true native 4K resolution.

Another Samsung showcase at IFA 2014, in addition to some new TV models, will be a new upcoming feature that will allow Wauki customers to watch 4K content at some point in the near future, though no word yet on any potential titles.

Philips also plans on feeling included in the community of companies with 4K innovations at IFA 2014. The company will be present with its latest models of 65PUS9809 Ultra HD TVs. These are 65 inch sets that will run off of the Android TV OS platform and give users access to all sorts of Google Play content right from the TVs themselves.

Philips will also be showing off its Amblight patented mood lighting system that lights up the edges of their TV sets in colors that match the “mood” of the screen action being displayed.
