LG 34UM65 34 Inch LED-Lit Monitor Display Review
There are a lot of monitors that are good for some gaming, and the LG 34UM65-P looks like it is made for it - It is NOT a 4k monitor. It is also made for any computer that you want to hook it up to, because it can support a lot of screens, as it perfect for multitasking, according to the LG product website. By the way, if you can afford it, you can have two or three and create a good “command center” feeling around the user.
Considering that most displays for the laptop are not even twenty inches, users may find it quite refreshing to have one that is 34 inches. That is quite large, really, and it will make your games larger than life (or at least larger than Steam on your laptop).
Inspire Review calls the LG 34UM65-P a “top notch monitor experience”, and it is pretty good. So if you are typical consumer and want some serious screen real estate on your desktop, then why not make the LG 34UM65P your personal monitor?
Yes, you might be wondering why we are covering this display that is not 4K on a website called 4K. While it may not be 4K, it certainly has some good WFHD (2560 x 1080) resolution at 21:9, and 1920 x 1080 resolution at 16:9. Then there is the size of 34 inches, which is pretty big for a display. By the way, both the Xbox One and the Sony PlayStation 4 cannot truly game in 4K. Seriously, they don’t have that capacity but could have in their next version or possibly an update. Therefore, unless your PC has a good graphics card and can support 4K, it doesn’t seem like the world is practically ready for 4K, but this is changing every day.
The audio is also really great with 7W stereo speakers, this means that if you are playing a game or watching a video, you will enjoy all of it through good sound.
A lot of displays seem to pride themselves with “4 programs on one screen at the same time”. This one is good for 2 to 4 customizable subscreens without any overlapping of windows. It actually has 8 different screen ratios customizable by click including 2 screen (16:5), 2 screen balanced, 3 screen left, 3 scren right, 3 screen top, 3 screen bottom, and the 4 screens. You can find out on the LG product site.
Then there is the dual link-up that allows two devices to be displayed at the same time on one single screen. So if you want to watch a movie on a Blu-Ray while you are connected to a PC to surf the net, you can.
The LG 34UM65-P has less changes in color temperature and more consistency, which gives a color impression equal to that of the original image. Then there is very little color shifting for enjoyment all day long.
On the LG official product site itself, there is an asterisk saying that the 21:9 Full Screen or 2560 x 1080 resolution may not work depending on content, device, interface or graphics card.
One complaint about screens of this size is they often have to be set to a lesser revolution in order to get it to display properly. You may need to get a video card to get it to work.
As of this writing, there are 65 reviews of this monitor on Amazon, and 38 of these are five-star reviews. One of them was that when HDMI to DisplayPort, there was no signal, but the HDMI to HDMI cable that it came with seemed to work just fine.
On the LG product website for the 34UM65-P, one user complained that it was “too expensive”, and that “you can buy two 27-inch 1440p monitors for the same price”.
There was one complaint from a user that it does not work on Mac. That is a pretty serious charge, and I don’t have any more confirmation on that. Yeah, that would kill some of your intended market, wouldn’t it? A lot of claimed that his is a good monitor for Mac, and it certainly looks like this is what it is made for. If you are looking for, then this is probably the display for you, if you can afford it. The price isn’t really too high compared for what a typical television would be.
Right now, there isn’t any reason why anyone wouldn’t want a display with 2560 x 1080 resolution display, even though there are better and more 4K monitors out on the market. However, you should ask yourself where you want to put this display? If it is for gaming, then you have the resolution as well as some great speakers. If it is for watching videos, then again, you have the resolution and have the great speakers. If it is for computing, you can split the image into four screens and game, watch videos, all with great resolution and great speakers. Again, there isn’t really any reason why you shouldn’t want this, and if this is the best that you can get for your money, then what is possibly stopping you from purchasing the LG 34UM65-P?

Then there was reader mode that reduces blue light to protect one’s eyes, so you can read on the monitor for as long as one wishes. In addition to that feature, it reducing the flicker level to almost-zero.
You may notice that the stand is very minimalist, and part of it is the transparent Crystal Float Stand to make it look like it is floating. It is actually made of see-through plastic, but it certainly pulls off the whole invisibility and floating effect pretty well. Then there is a new CINEMA screen bezel, making it look like a miniature movie theater.
Instead of an unlabeled series of buttons for menu controls, this particular monitor comes with a joystick with a very simple controls, making menu controls nothing short of instinctual.
Okay, let’s review: you’ve got 2560 x 1080 resolution, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 5,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio, 16.7 million colors, 21:9 aspect ratio, all on a 34-inch screen. Then I have already explained in “The Good” about the color arrangement. Anyone tell me what is not to love here?
Oh sure, it can be better, and yes, I have already explained that you are not getting 4K here. However, there is so much that looks so good visually on the LG 34UM65-P, that I can’t see why anyone would complain, really.
It has HDMI, Display Port, and DVI inputs, allowing for connecting to all your devices. One of its features is that it has dual-link functionality allows the user to view two separate inputs at the same time.
If you go on Amazon, you will discover that the price is about $579.99. This is marked down from $699.99. I believe that we stated something about how expensive the price is
There is no greater “not so great” then having this product and finding out that it doesn’t work. If you don’t have the right graphics card, then this device might not work. That is pretty disturbing, right? Sure it is. Then also not having it be compatible with Mac, also just as disturbing. Then finding out that you paid a hefty price for it? That is the most disturbing fact of all. Personally, I hope no one has to face that, but take precautions of saving the receipt and making certain there is a return policy before you find out you just bought a lemon.
WFHD (2560 x 1080) resolution at 21:9
7W Stereo Speakers
4 Programs one screen
Color change and temperature control
Crystal Float Stand
Interesting Joystick control for menu
Might need a different graphics card
Resolution might need to be adjusted
Price could be an issue
Compatibility with Mac? (Emphasis on Question mark)
